I write Literary Fiction.
Through my characters' attempts to understand themselves and the world around them I am able to confront the complexities of being alive.
I believe creativity is an unlimited resource.
I teach others in order to validate and elevate new voices. My students’ creativity, voice, and insight greatly influence the class dynamics and I encourage students to contribute and share in a safe and respectful environment.
I know creativity fuels introspection, action, and transformation.
I am an advocate for other artists and writers and the cultural conversation we engage in to heal, inspire, and ignite those around us. For many years, I've worked in literacy programs, arts in education coaching and facilitating roles, and as a writer-in-residence in schools, both urban and rural.
I value multiple perspectives.
As an active member of my community, I've dedicated myself to creating space for emerging and experienced writers and artists to explore and be inspired. From my classroom experiences to my support of artist residencies and my commitment to independent presses, I believe in the power of voice and the importance of hearing, experiencing and understanding people of all backgrounds.
